Spencer Ewing

Born in Detroit and raised in Harper Woods, Michigan, Spencer Ewing is a proud two-time graduate of Central Michigan University. He earned his bachelor's degree in Sport Management in 2020 and returned to complete his master's in Sport Administration in 2022. Currently, Spencer serves as an Academic Counselor at the University of Michigan, where he works with student-athletes in Football, Women's Lacrosse, and Volleyball. Prior to this role, he spent a year back at his alma mater as the Assistant Director of Student-Athlete Services, supporting Women's Basketball, Soccer, and Field Hockey.

Spencer's career in collegiate athletics was sparked during his senior year at CMU through an internship in Institutional Support Services under the guidance of Jewel Larkins. That experience ignited his passion for working with student-athletes and laid the foundation for his professional journey. After completing his master's, he returned to that same office in a full-time capacity—an opportunity that proved to be a pivotal step in his career before joining the team at Michigan.

Spencer credits his parents, family, friends, mentors, and professors for their unwavering support throughout his journey. "It really does take a community," he says. "I wouldn't be where I am today without the people who've guided, encouraged, and believed in me along the way." He emphasizes the importance of staying grounded and reconnecting with one's purpose during challenging times. "Not every day will feel great, and that's okay. The key is to come back to your why."

Reflecting on his time at CMU, Spencer notes how both the undergraduate and graduate programs in sport emphasized real-world experience through internships, research, and collaboration. Those experiences helped shape his practical skillset and continue to support his success in the field today.
